Autumn Winter 2015

Published on: April 9th, 2015

As we say goodbye to the warmer months, it’s time to consider the latest forthcoming trends for autumn/winter 2015!
Hair mimics and accents the textures, shapes and colour palette of the looks on the runway. It is the most important accessory you own. So how do you keep it up to date with the impending winter months? Here is a guide to what’s current and how to maintain your new look.
Short: This seasons pixie cuts have more face framing lengths with textured layers. This makes a versatile cut that can be worn in different directions and ways depending on the product you use. Whether it’s a slicked down side part, or a tousled wave. This cut works with most hair types and can be tailored to suit any face shape.
Medium: The classic bob is worn either above the chin or as a long bob sweeping the collar bone. Blunt and heavy or relaxed waves with a matte finish are in vogue for this seasons bob. Salt spray, dry shampoo and volumizing sprays are perfect for this. Gone are the days of the sleek straight office bobs. The trend is sophisticated with an edge.
Long: This season’s long hair is worn with an ode to the 70’s hippie era. A middle part worn with a barely there wave and wind swept texture gives this trend an effortless finish. Worn out long layers or no layering is teamed up with soft shaping around the face.
As the colder months can make you feel dull and gloomy, be sure to vamp up that fresh cut with a new hue. Colouring is the makeup for your hair. It can enhance or complement the cut and bring out the best in your skin tone, makes your eye colour pop, add shine, add texture and give the illusion of more volume. The right colour can do so much for your appearance and with the wide array of techniques in today’s modern salons, there is a bespoke look waiting for you. Brunettes are exaggerated with rich raison reds, deep copper and caramels. Blondes can be a low maintenance natural sun kissed balayage or bold icy platinum. When opting for a red colour, a deeper red like mahogany, rich auburns and burgundy will complement warmer skin tones whereas porcelain skin will suit both natural to bright reds. Having gloss colour treatments in between appointments will keep your colours looking fresh and vibrant.

As with any investment it takes maintenance to look after and ensure its longevity. Professional products are prescribed for your hair type by your hairdresser! They will help your colour last longer and add moisture and/or protein to keep your hair healthy and shiny. A professional shampoo, conditioner and mask can go a long way as they are concentrated, so you only need to use a small amount each time. Your stylist can prescribe the best care routine for your hair type and describe the features and benefits of the chosen range. NB Don’t invest in a hair colour if you are going to use non-professional products at home as they can contain damaging, colour stripping ingredients.
